COVID-19 Update

Lakeview Academy's Administration and Board of Trustees worked with a specially created COVID-19 task force and response teams to develop a plan that allowed our school to safely re-open. The plan was designed to protect the health and safety of the entire Lakeview community - students, families, faculty and visitors.

We stress to our community that it is a shared responsibility. The plan reflects our current knowledge and is updated as new information in made available. Updates are posted here as quickly as possible as well as communicated to our community.

Task Force Update

Lakeview Academy is proud of its efforts at mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and keeping its community safe. At a recent, virtual town hall, Lakeview Academy's Task Force shared the school’s efforts and the ongoing work of the Task Force. A short presentation by our Sub Committee on Health and Safety was followed by a Q & A session.

What We Are Doing

In order to minimize the risks to students, faculty and staff, and keep the community healthy, the following guidelines have been established and are being followed:

COVID-19 RESPONSE TEAMS

A Tactical Response Team will be convened in the event that there is a single, isolated case of COVID-19 within the Lakeview Community that requires an immediate response. The Tactical Response Team will be constituted on a case-by-case basis and comprised of the Head of School, school nurse, division director (and grade level teacher/coach as appropriate) as well as designated medical professionals.

A Strategic Response Team will be convened in the event that there is a larger outbreak of COVID-19 across multiple grades/divisions among students, staff, and/or faculty within the Lakeview Community that may significantly impact the health, safety and operations of the school. Such an event will require a more strategic response. The Strategic Response Team will be comprised of Lakeview Academy’s COVID-19 Task Force, its sub committees, and local medical professionals.

Learning Options for 2020-21

Two options were offered for the 2020-21 academic year for families starting in the fall. These options are currently available on a case-by-case basis for families joining now or for second semester.
On-Campus Learning
The majority of our students are learning on-campus with updated health, safety and social distancing measures in place. For short-term, unplanned absences, students are able to participate remotely, allowing for synchronous learning.

Remote Learning
Students were given the option to learn remotely for the first semester if they declared their intent by August of 2020. Switch to or new enrollment in remote learning may be allowed for reason deemed acceptable on a case-by-case basis.
